Her Grace, Archbishop Naomi C. DuRant, a native Baltimorean, is truly a messenger sent by God to proclaim the Gospel. She serves the congregation of the New Refuge Deliverance Cathedral, Inc. In every aspect of her life, she has made a sacrificial commitment to serve God. Because of her steadfast obedience and complete dedication to service for God, He has given her multiple gifts, abilities and talents. The Archbishop is the daughter of Bishop Clem Williamson (Englewood, NJ) and Mother Ruth Martin. She was married to the late and highly devoted Deacon Albert DuRant, Sr. She is the mother of six adult children, which includes the recent adoption of Deaconess Earline DuRant-Meredith. Archbishop DuRant attended the Baltimore City Public Schools. She then obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Theology and a Doctorate of Divinity Degree. She furthered her studies at Morgan State University, under the tutelage of Dr. Herbert O. Edwards, in the Religious Studies Department. Her grandmother, the late Irene Montgomery, was one the most spiritually influential persons in her life. Her family tree branches into generations of anointed preachers. God called Archbishop DuRant to proclaim the Word of God at the early age of 16. In 1967, she founded the New Refuge Deliverance Holiness Church, Inc. In the mid-70's, she was consecrated to the Episcopy. For decades, on a daily basis, God has tremendously used the Archbishop to minister artistically via Radio Station WBGR, in the Baltimore, Washington, DC, and Virginia areas. Countless individuals have been saved, delivered, healed, reclaimed, restored and spiritually encouraged during this radio ministry. It has helped to bridge gaps within families, communities, churches, schools and related institutions. Children who listen are encouraged to verbally express themselves through study and pleasing the Lord in their own personal and unique ways.

Information has brought immeasurable meaning and order into her ministries. An attitude of giving God one's best is not only limited to her, but also filters down from the pulpit to the door, as well. Because of her knowledge and God's guidance, her cabinet has been inspired to correctly perform the rites of the church. Her unquenchable thirst for the knowledge of God and for the restoration of order within the church (which invokes the Holy Spirit), leads her on quests to visit the early churches of England and Rome. There, she studies and acquires knowledge to effectively serve the people of God. While breaking denominational barriers, it has captured the attention of other churches, thus leading many to her ministry to become ordained and consecrated. Seeing the need for Bishops to bond, fellowship, study together and share ideas, >Archbishop DuRant has formed the Bishop's Association, a support group for bishops. Her peers unanimously elected her as president. They look to her for guidance, comfort, support and instruction.

Our >Archbishop was the Presiding Prelate and Chief Celebrant in the consecration to the Episcopy of Bishops William F. Hart, Jr. (Washington, D.C.), Walter Barnes III and Edith A. Mangum. Additionally, she rendered a special Episcopal anointing upon Bishops Clem Williamson and Carroll Adams (North Carolina). She was CO-Celebrant in the consecration to the Episcopy of Bishop Jeremiah D. Fowler (New Orleans, LA). During that service, Archbishop Gabriel Jolly dropped his mantle on our Bishop, thereby making her an Archbishop. At New Refuge Deliverance Cathedral, Inc., she has ordained Rev. Andrew Meredith as CO-Pastor and Rev. Jean E. English as Youth Pastor. She has also ordained countless individuals to the diaconate and the general ministry.
